Floral Mermaid

It's been a hot mess summer, that's for sure. I've actually been trying to stay indoors with my air conditioner so I've not had many opportunities to get my fashion on. I finally got the nerve to plan a trip to visit a dear friend. This outfit was put together for a girls night dinner and drinks.

It was super windy this particular night so obviously I pulled out some "model in the fan" poses. Wind or no wind I absolutely love how my Mint Skirt from Domino Dollhouse flows and moves. It's definitely going to get many, many wears. I didn't want to pair this great skirt with something as boring as a black top so when I saw this bodysuit (yes, bodysuit!) from ReDress NYC I knew the two pieces together would be magic.

I'm a size 28-32 so I knew the bodysuit might not fit, and sadly I was right. BUT - it was super stretchy so I just snipped the crotch and now it can  be worn as a top with high waisted skirts. I was desperate to make this floral work, and work I did.

Spring & Summer Must Haves: Part 2

Ok guys I'm going to tell you a little secret... I get MOST of my accessories from Ardene. I know, I know, it's that place we all went to as teens to get funky gummy bracelets and crazy sunglasses, even now they randomly have teen clothing but I'm telling you they have really upped their game. Every time I go in there I come out with some crazy good finds. Best of all is that this place is cheap as fuck! They have year round deals like 5 hair accessories for $10. They also have sales on other things like 2 wallets for $10, 2 pairs of shoes for $20, and on and on. This is my lot from last week, as you can see I took advantage of most of the sales. Not pictured but I got some MINT GREEN FLATS! <3

Style Icon Lana

Nostalgic, glamourous, 1940's David Lynch inspired Lizzy Grant AKA Lana Del Rey has pretty much captured my heart, eyes, and ears. Ever since I heard her live version of End Of The World  I just can't get enough. This, of course was before her transformation into hollywood obsessed flower-crown wearing queen of my life. I also saw this beautiful floral photo set of her and her lovely lips before hearing any of her recorded songs.

What really got me to notice her style is the fact she's the first person to make bright flowers and gold getto jewelry look good. I've never really been into the whole floral thing but she really pulls it off and it makes me want to experiment. I actually found a floral headband at ASOS but I let it slide through my fingers and have never seen it again.

Lana really is quite a charmer. She can go from skater flower-child to ghetto princess to regal elegance queen in a heartbeat, all with a retrovintage feel. Always. Never fail. It's amazing.

Among her bright and fun dress I also admire her use and overuse of accessories. From her shoes to her oversized double rings and hoop earrings (which I think she will single handedly bring back) and all her lovely roses.

So, I'm a fat girl. And I've found some fat friendly items along the way that are kinda "Del Rey" inspired.
